Body Camera Privacy Policy

Aimo's security personnel are often exposed to violence or threats of violence. Some of Aimo's parking attendants are therefore equipped with body-worn cameras. Aimo has conducted a risk assessment regarding the use of body cameras.

Where do parking attendants wear body-worn cameras?

In the areas listed below, body-worn cameras can be found on all public streets:

• Arvika
• Karlskrona
• Växjö
• Kristianstad

In all cases, a sticker attached to the parking attendants' service vehicles indicates whether body-worn cameras are present in the area being patrolled. Camera recording does not always occur in the areas, but only when the parking attendants are patrolling them.

Nature, scope, context and purpose of the processing

Aimo Park Sweden AB, org. no. 556553-5548 (“Aimo”) is the data controller for the processing of personal data collected through the parking attendants' body cameras.
Aimo's security personnel are regularly exposed to threats and violence when carrying out their duties. The personnel's duties consist of parking monitoring of vehicles and issuing control fees and parking citations.
In order to reduce the incidence of violence, Aimo has equipped certain staff with body-worn cameras. Aimo has carefully considered this activity in relation to the rights of the data subjects, especially those who may be filmed, and has found, based on statistics from staff incident reporting, that body-worn cameras increase staff safety.

What personal data is processed and how is it done?

Moving images and audio recordings are continuously recorded by the body cameras using so-called pre-recording technology. The recordings are deleted continuously at intervals of ten seconds. This means that recorded material beyond this is only saved if a parking attendant activates the recording function in a threatening situation, whereupon the recording forward and a period of ten seconds before that are saved. However, the ten seconds before activation lack audio recording in order to limit the current personal data processing.

Which individuals may appear in the recorded material?

Personal data processing takes place automatically using so-called pre-recording technology, as described above. The scope of personal data processing can be large when parking attendants patrol well-visited areas, such as public streets. Individuals moving in these areas may be filmed as a result.

What is the legal basis for the processing of personal data?

Aimo bases this processing of personal data on a balancing of interests. Aimo's legitimate interest is to protect Aimo's personnel against threats and violence. Aimo has weighed this interest against the data subjects' interest in protecting their personal integrity and found that Aimo's legitimate interest outweighs it. In this assessment, Aimo has primarily taken into account the following aspects.

Is there a way to achieve the result in a less privacy-violating way?

Aimo has previously used only assault alarms. However, it has been shown that these alarms do not have the deterrent effect of preventing parking attendants from being exposed to threats and violence that a body camera is considered to have. Aimo has reached this conclusion through documented incident reports from parking attendants. There is no other technical solution or alternative that can achieve the same effect.

What measures have been taken to limit the processing of personal data as far as possible? Aimo has ensured that camera recordings are only saved if they are needed to secure evidence in a police report and subsequently in a court process. This is achieved by using a recording technology that continuously deletes material that is not actively saved by manual activation of the parking attendant. The staff has been trained to ensure that nothing more than necessary is saved.

How long is the personal data saved?

The recordings on the camera are transferred after a work shift to the central server and are then automatically deleted directly locally on the camera in question. The recordings are saved on the server for one month. After that, the recordings are automatically deleted, unless they are specifically excluded by HR staff in the event of an investigation of an incident. The reason why the recordings are saved during this period is so that the parking attendants have time to report the incident in the event of a possible incident. The HR staff involved shall then be given the opportunity to access the system and exclude the recording in question from automatic deletion.

The material marked as evidence is automatically deleted after six months, or earlier if it has been handed over to the prosecutor or police. The purpose of saving the material is limited to handing it over to the prosecutor and police. The material may not be used to monitor Aimo's personnel or otherwise review the performance of the personnel.

Where is the personal data processed?

All personal data is processed within the EU/EEA. No transfer of the personal data to third countries takes place. Storage takes place on Aimo's server within the EU/EEA.

Who can access the personal data?

The personal data is only shared with third parties in the event of a possible legal process. In such a case, it is shared with the prosecutor and police. Otherwise, Aimo itself manages the cameras and the technical environment where the recording is made.

The software and camera provider has no access to any recorded material, but only supplies offline hardware and software.
